The main province of the same name occupies the entire peninsula located in the northeast of the island, with an extension of about 412 square kilometers. It is one of the provinces with great ecotourism wealth, combining beautiful mountains, rivers, and kilometers of warm beaches in the Atlantic Ocean. Samaná Bay is within one of the richest protected areas in the Caribbean. It has the largest number of virgin beaches with very easy access throughout the island.
It is 160 km from the Las Americas International Airport and has an international airport located equidistant from the different tourist spots in Samana: Las Terrenas, the town of Samaná, Cosón, Galeras, Playa Bonita, among others.

Its patron saint festivities are held between August 19 and 30 in honour of Santa Rosa de Lima. It is one of the liveliest celebrations in the eastern part of the country.
